The next generation of lighting technology could change the way people interact with light sources, but researchers say they have little to show for their work.
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a system that emits infrared light and an LED that can illuminate rooms with light.
The team has been working on the idea for nearly three years, and the system is expected to be unveiled in the next few months.
The system works by illuminating a room with a laser light source.
The laser emits infrared photons, which can then be reflected by a light switch.
The LED lights up the room, providing a visible light source to anyone in the room.
The new system uses the same laser technology as those used in high-tech lighting products like Google Glass.
That technology works by shining infrared light at a surface and then emitting infrared photons to light up a surface.
The light from the surface reflects back, illuminating the surface.
The MIT team says the system can provide illumination at any level of the home without requiring a dedicated lighting system.
The light switch, which is controlled by a remote control, also makes it possible to change a room’s lighting without having to install a separate light source in the space.
“Lighting is one of the most powerful human interactions,” said MIT professor of electrical engineering Adam Fuchs, the paper’s lead author.
“It changes our way of seeing, our way to perceive space and time.
It’s a huge part of our daily lives.”
Fuchs says the light switch is an ideal solution for providing light in areas that are dark or crowded.
In other areas, like bedrooms, where light is scarce, it can be distracting.
“The light switches are designed to be easily portable and inexpensive,” he said.
“This new light source will allow the home to be transformed into a digital home.”MIT researchers say the new system can be installed in a fraction of the time it would take to install conventional light switches.
The researchers say this new system is the first to harness the power of light.
But they say it could be expanded into other applications.
They envision other types of light switches, like those used for video game consoles and cell phones, to enable other types and levels of illumination.
They envision incorporating these types of lights into new home systems that are not connected to the internet.
“It’s really exciting to think about what this new light can do,” Fuchs said.
“We are the first group to have demonstrated a way to use light to provide light without having a dedicated source.
We have not been able to show that light can be used to do anything else.”
